Ayushman Vay Vandana a Huge Draw Among Elders: 10 Lakh Enrollments in 3 Weeks

The Ayushman Vay Vandana Card, launched on October 29, 2024, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has quickly gained popularity among senior citizens, with over 10 lakh enrollments for those aged 70 and above within just three weeks of its rollout. This scheme is a part of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY), which provides free healthcare benefits to eligible citizens. Notably, around 4 lakh of the enrolled individuals are female senior citizens.

Since its launch, the Ayushman Vay Vandana Card has facilitated the approval of treatments worth over Rs 9 crore, benefitting more than 4,800 senior citizens, including 1,400 women. The treatments covered by the card include critical medical procedures such as coronary angioplasty, hip replacements, gallbladder removal, cataract surgeries, prostate resections, and care for stroke patients, ensuring that senior citizens have access to essential medical services without financial barriers.
