NEW DELHI: With passenger demand expected to rise during Diwali and Chhath Puja, Indian Railways will add extra AC coaches to 10 special trains connecting Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Punjab to accommodate more travellers during the festive rush, said an official from the Union Railwats Ministry..
The additional coaches are aimed at improving berth availability on routes that see heavy demand as people travel home for the festivals. Long waiting lists and fully booked trains often make festive journeys difficult, particularly for passengers travelling between Delhi and Bihar, he added.
The additional coaches will be attached to the following special trains on specified dates:
| Train no. | Train | Dates |
|---|---|---|
| 04014 | Anand Vihar Terminal–Laukaha Bazar Special | November 1–13 |
| 04013 | Laukaha Bazar–Anand Vihar Terminal Special | November 2–14 |
| 04028 | Anand Vihar Terminal–Muzaffarpur Special | November 3–13 |
| 04027 | Muzaffarpur–Anand Vihar Terminal Special | November 4–14 |
| 04209 | Varanasi–Delhi Special | November 2–13 |
| 04210 | Delhi–Varanasi Special | November 3–14 |
| 04616 | Patna Special | November 3–10 |
| 04615 | Patna–Firozpur Cantt Special | November 4–11 |
| 04668 | Amritsar–Barauni Special | November 1–15 |
| 04667 | Barauni–Amritsar Special | November 3–17 |
The move is expected to benefit passengers travelling on busy routes linking Anand Vihar, Varanasi, Patna, Muzaffarpur, Barauni and Amritsar. Passengers are advised to check train schedules and coach availability before booking. Reservations can be made through the IRCTC website or app, added the official.
