NEW DELHI: With hearing loss becoming increasingly common with age, and exposure to loud noise adding to the burden, the small battery powering a hearing aid can play an important role in helping users stay connected.
To cash in on this demand, Eveready Industries India has entered the hearing aid battery segment with its Ultima Pro Hearing Aid Batteries. The company has launched four commonly used sizes, 10, 13, 312 and 675.
Hearing aid batteries are not one-size-fits-all. The choice depends on the hearing aid model, its power requirement and the level of amplification needed.

The company said the new batteries are available in sizes 10, 13, 312 and 675. It claims up to 50% longer life and said the batteries contain no added lead, mercury or cadmium.
The range is being made available through retail stores, e-commerce and quick-commerce platforms. The entry comes as hearing care gains greater attention in India. An ageing population, growing awareness and wider use of hearing devices are increasing the demand for related products. For users, however, choosing the right battery is important. Size 10 batteries are generally used in smaller hearing aids, while sizes 13 and 675 are commonly used in devices requiring greater power. Size 312 is widely used in compact hearing aids.
Battery life also varies. It depends on the hearing aid, amplification settings and usage. Wireless streaming can increase power consumption.
“For patients, the battery should be selected according to the hearing aid and the manufacturer’s specifications. Users should not switch to another size simply because it may last longer,” said an ENT specialist. For older people, handling very small batteries can also be difficult, particularly for those with poor vision or reduced hand strength. Rechargeable hearing aids may be an alternative for some users, depending on the device and individual needs.
The right battery, therefore, is not necessarily the biggest or the one promising the longest life. It is the one compatible with the hearing aid and suited to the user’s daily needs.
