The Centre is launching a month-long campaign from November 1 to encourage pensioners to submit their digital life certificates (DLCs). This initiative, managed by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW), will held in 800 cities and districts across India. Pensioners are required to submit a life certificate annually in November to ensure the continuity of their pensions.
This year’s campaign emphasises the use of face authentication technology, with support from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). To facilitate the process, the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) will set up camps in 785 districts, leveraging its network of 1.8 lakh postmen and Gramin Dak Sewaks to provide doorstep services for DLC submissions.
Pensioners can access more information on these services at ippbonline.com. The initiative will also see pension disbursing banks organizing camps in 150 cities. Special provisions will be made for elderly, disabled, or ill pensioners, ensuring they can conveniently submit their certificates, said a statement here.
With the involvement of 57 pension welfare associations to mobilize pensioners and coordinate the camps, this campaign aims to maximize outreach and support for all pensioners, especially those who are super seniors. A dedicated DLC portal has been established, detailing 800 districts and 1,900 camp locations to ensure effective execution of the campaign, the statement added.
