India Bags Three Guinness World Records for ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’

New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry has secured three Guinness World Records titles for its nationwide women-focused health initiative, “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan” (SNSPA), marking a major milestone in India’s efforts to strengthen preventive and community-based healthcare.

The campaign, held from September 17 to October 2 as part of Poshan Maah, witnessed an unprecedented scale of participation across the country, with millions joining health and wellness activities.

According to the Health Ministry, the campaign achieved records for the highest number of people registering on a health platform in a single month — 3.21 crore; the largest online breast cancer screening sign-up in a week — 9.94 lakh; and the highest participation in vital-signs screening within a week at the State level — 1.25 lakh.

Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the initiative was designed to enhance the health and nutritional status of women, adolescent girls, and children, while promoting early disease detection, access to essential healthcare, and the adoption of healthier lifestyles.

“Our mothers and sisters—our women power—are the foundation of our nation’s progress. If a mother is healthy, the entire family remains healthy,”  Modi said while inaugurating the campaign.

The drive covered every district in the country, organising 19.7 lakh health camps and drawing a footfall of over 11 crore participants across various health platforms. More than 20 Ministries, along with central institutions, medical colleges, private bodies, and elected representatives, joined hands, making it a whole-of-government effort, said a senior Health Ministry official.

Community engagement was equally widespread, with participation from over five lakh Panchayati Raj representatives, 1.14 crore students, 94 lakh members of self-help groups, and five lakh members from other community platforms.

The campaign delivered notable outcomes, including 1.78 crore hypertension checks, 1.73 crore diabetes screenings, 69.5 lakh oral cancer tests, 62.6 lakh antenatal care check-ups, 1.43 crore vaccine doses, and 1.51 crore anaemia screenings.

Additionally, 85.9 lakh women were screened for tuberculosis, 10.2 lakh for sickle cell disease, and 2.14 crore individuals took part in counselling and wellness sessions. More than 2.68 lakh Nikshay Mitra (TB care volunteers) were enrolled, supported by My Bharat volunteers, the Ministry said.

Officials described the global recognition as a reflection of India’s collective commitment to strengthening preventive healthcare, blending government outreach, digital innovation, and public participation to realise the vision of a “Healthy Woman, Empowered Family, and Viksit Bharat.”
