New Delhi: In a bid to address shortages of specialised healthcare professionals, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jammu has reached out to medical practitioners as well as those from Jammu & Kashmir working in the country or abroad, inviting them to contribute to the institution’s growth and bolster healthcare delivery in the region.

In an official statement, Executive Director and CEO Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta extended a call to the global medical community—particularly those with roots in the region—to join AIIMS Jammu’s rapidly expanding academic, clinical, and research ecosystem.

Prof. Gupta said the institute, now entering its second year, is quickly emerging as a leading hub for medical education, research, and patient care.

Highlighting the institute’s growing network of collaborations, the communication noted partnerships with IIT Jammu, IIM Jammu, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), USA, aimed at advancing translational research, innovation, and global academic exchange.

AIIMS Jammu has also implemented a range of patient-focused and digital initiatives, including an Indoor Navigation App, Patient Care Coordinators, Rogi Sahayak Mitras, and the application of Artificial Intelligence in radiology, pathology, and clinical decision-making.

“Healthcare outreach has been strengthened through medical camps, OPDs in remote and border areas, telemedicine programmes, and public-awareness campaigns,” Dr. Gupta said.

The institute’s Centre for Advanced Genomics and Precision Medicine is undertaking pioneering work in precision oncology and genetic research, with support from national agencies such as ICMR, SERB, and NAMS.

New clinical services, including Radiation Oncology and Chemotherapy Day Care, have expanded cancer-care options in the region. AIIMS Jammu has also been designated a “Pain-Free AIIMS” by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, recognising its commitment to safe and compassionate pain management.

Upcoming upgrades, including Total Laboratory Automation (TLA) and dry-slide biochemistry platforms, are expected to enhance diagnostic accuracy and operational efficiency. The institute has also invested in a cutting-edge digital library to support research, learning, and collaborative academic work.

Prof. Gupta emphasised that diaspora medical professionals could play a transformative role across teaching, research, mentorship, and patient care.

“Your expertise, innovation, and collaboration can help us scale new heights in healthcare delivery,” he said, adding, “AIIMS Jammu looks forward to welcoming you to its vibrant campus—where knowledge flourishes and partnerships thrive.”
