There’s good news for Anganwadi workers! In a significant move ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly elections, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced a substantial hike in the remuneration of Anganwadi workers and their assistants, according to an official statement.

The monthly remuneration for Anganwadi workers has been increased from Rs 7,500 to Rs 10,000, while that of Mini-Anganwadi workers has been raised to Rs 7,250 from Rs 5,375. Additionally, Anganwadi assistants will now receive Rs 5,000 per month, up from Rs 3,750.

These revised salaries will be effective from October 2023, with the state government allocating an additional Rs 350 crore annually to facilitate the hike. The decision is expected to benefit approximately 1.48 lakh Anganwadi workers, Mini Anganwadi workers, and Anganwadi assistants across the state.

Furthermore, the arrear amounts for the last four months will be credited into their bank accounts between March 5 and 10. In a move to enhance the exit policy, Anganwadi workers leaving their jobs will now receive Rs 1 lakh, while Mini Anganwadi workers and Anganwadi assistants will receive Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively, effective from April 1,2024.

Additionally, the state government has announced compensation of Rs 2 lakh in the event of death or complete physical disability of Anganwadi workers, Mini Anganwadi workers, and Anganwadi assistants, and Rs 1 lakh for partial disability, effective from April 1 this year.
