Over 150 railway stations across the country have been awarded the prestigious ‘Eat Right Stations’ certification, guaranteeing passengers access to healthy and hygienic food options. Among these are key stations in New Delhi, Varanasi, Kolkata, Ujjain, Ayodhya Cantt, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Kozhikode, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar, Vadodra, Mysuru City, Bhopal, Igatpuri, Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi, and Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station in Chennai.

In addition to railway stations, six prominent metro stations, including those at Noida Sector 51, Esplanade in Kolkata, IIT Kanpur, Botanical Garden in Noida, and Noida Electronic City, have also received the ‘Eat Right Stations’ accreditation.

These FSSAI-certified stations ensure that the millions of passengers traveling through the extensive railway network have access to safe, hygienic, and nutritious food choices.

Earlier this year, the country witnessed the inauguration of its first healthy and clean food street at Mahakal Lok, known as ‘Prasadam,’ by FSSAI and Smart City Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh. The inauguration ceremony, graced by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, marked a significant milestone.

FSSAI officials highlight that Prasadam aims to become a hub of street food where devotees visiting Lord Mahakaleshwar can relish the local cuisine of Ujjain while adhering to the strict standards of the Eat Right Food program.

The process of achieving ‘Eat Right Station’ certification involves rigorous procedures, including audits of food vendors, training of food handlers, and strict adherence to hygiene and sanitation protocols. This initiative aims to raise awareness among individuals to make informed food choices, promoting overall health and well-being.

Not only does this initiative benefit passengers by ensuring safe food options, but it also empowers food vendors at railway stations. By maintaining food safety and hygiene standards, vendors enhance their credibility and attract more customers, thereby improving their livelihoods.

The ‘Eat Right Station’ certification program aims to guarantee access to safe and healthy food across railway stations in the country. With over 150 railway stations certified as ‘Eat Right Stations,’ this initiative represents a significant stride in promoting the Eat Right India movement. Officials have also expressed intentions to extend the certification to more stations meeting the FSSAI criteria.”
