NEW DELHI: Diagnostic services in North India are set for a fresh consolidation push, with Neuberg Diagnostics entering into a strategic joint venture with Mahajan Imaging & Labs to expand pathology, genomics, and wellness services and bring them closer to imaging and nuclear medicine.
The partnership brings together Neuberg’s capabilities in pathology, genomics, wellness, digital systems, and diagnostic operations with Mahajan Imaging & Labs’ more than three decades of expertise in radiology, nuclear medicine, PET-CT and advanced imaging. The collaboration is expected to strengthen the integrated diagnostics network across Delhi-NCR and Jaipur and expand Neuberg’s presence in North India.
As part of the arrangement, Neuberg will work with Mahajan Imaging & Labs to strengthen and integrate operations at existing laboratories in Noida, Lucknow, and Jammu. The two companies will also seek to integrate pathology, imaging, nuclear medicine, and genomics, reflecting a broader shift in diagnostics towards combining multiple streams of clinical information rather than relying on individual tests in isolation.
For patients and clinicians, the significance of such integration lies in the ability to bring imaging, pathology, and molecular information together to support more comprehensive diagnosis and treatment decisions. The trend is particularly relevant in complex diseases such as cancer, where diagnosis and treatment planning increasingly depend on a combination of radiology, tissue analysis, and molecular or genomic testing.
Dr. GSK Velu, founder, chairman, and managing director of Neuberg Diagnostics, said the partnership would help the company build a more comprehensive diagnostics presence in the region.
“This partnership with Mahajan Imaging & Labs represents a significant milestone in Neuberg’s growth strategy. Our focus now is to complement that foundation with Neuberg’s pathology, genomics, and wellness capabilities; IT & digital infrastructure; and operating experience. This gives us an opportunity to build a much more comprehensive diagnostics presence in the region.”
For Mahajan Imaging & Labs, the partnership is aimed at adding scale and infrastructure to an established imaging-led network while accelerating its pathology and genomics capabilities.
Dr. Harsh Mahajan, founder and chairman of Mahajan Imaging & Labs, said, “The decision to associate with Neuberg is rooted in where diagnostics is headed. Radiology, pathology, or genomics today does not exist in isolation. Increasingly, clinical decisions require information from imaging, pathology, molecular testing, and genomics to be considered together. This association with Neuberg allows us to accelerate that existing capability by bringing in additional scale, infrastructure, and expertise.”
The joint venture will be led operationally by Kabir Mahajan, who will serve as chief executive officer and oversee its growth agenda.
The immediate focus is expected to be on improving the nuts and bolts of diagnostic delivery, including sample collection and logistics, laboratory integration, digital systems, and turnaround times.
Kabir Mahajan said, “The priority now is execution. We will focus on strengthening the pathology, genomics, and wellness capabilities; strengthening collection and sample logistics; integrating digital systems; and improving turnaround times across the network, all while continuing to uphold the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and clinical excellence that Mahajan Imaging & Labs is known for. We also see significant scope for technology and AI to support quality control, workflow management, and reporting.”
The move comes amid rapid expansion of India’s diagnostics industry, driven by rising demand for preventive health checks, chronic disease monitoring, cancer diagnostics, and personalized medicine. At the same time, diagnostic providers are increasingly investing in automation, digital platforms, and artificial intelligence to improve laboratory workflows, quality control, and reporting.
