Rajesh Verma, a 1987 IAS officer from the Odisha Cadre, has assumed the role of full-time Chairperson of the Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region (NCR) and adjoining areas (CAQM) effective from September 9, 2024.
Appointed for a term of three years or until further notice, Verma brings over 35 years of experience in public administration and governance.
His extensive career includes roles in the President’s Secretariat, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Power, and various departments in Odisha and Rajasthan. Verma has been instrumental in addressing air pollution issues across these organizations.
He succeeds Dr MM Kutty, who completed a three-year term as CAQM Chairperson. Prior to his new role, Verma served as Secretary to the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, until August 31, 2024.
