India’s dynamic doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty stunned Denmark’s top seeds Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in a thrilling three-game tie to move into the semifinals of the China Masters Super 750 here on Friday. The two-time defending champion Kidambi Srikanth was beaten in the quarterfinals of the men’s singles.
The fourth seeds in China pulled off a stunning 21-13, 16-21, 21-18 victory over the fifth seeds in a tie that lasted 70 minutes, extending their brilliant run after finishing second in the Thailand Open Super 500 and winning the Singapore Open Super 750 in May.
Satwik and Chirag exploded out of the blocks to grab a 5-1 lead and then a flurry of winners saw them stretch out their advantage to 7 points at 16-9. The attacking game plan saw them cruise to the opening game.
